JUL I FOLKETINGET
Client: The Danish Parliament
Agency: Hello Monday
Role: Art Direction, Design & Production
The brief was to create a Christmas greeting in the form of a card and a video to share with all the members of parliament and the staff. Christmas is often associated with nostalgia. We wanted to capture that certain feeling, but instead using modern day images and monuments.
Inspired by Danish vintage stickers we decided to build everything using paper cut-outs, glitter and cotton. With this approach of applying rose-tinted glassed to the present, we managed to transform modern Denmark into a modern – yet old school magical winter wonderland.

The initial sketches and concept as they were presented to the client. We wanted the whole country to be represented, so we came up with the idea “flying through” winter Denmark to end up at Christiansborg.
After the concept was approved the second challenge appeared: We had to find a way to make this video, so the experiments began! This is such an exciting part of the process. Everything was tested under my desk in the office with tape, fairy lights and cotton snow.
Every photo was made black & white, then hand-coloured, printed, cut out to get that vintage feel. Glitter applied as a final touch. I had gone through my collection of vintage magazines to analyse and find out what made them look so Christmas romantic.
Finally we created a physical card too composed of all the collage elements, but simplified to achieve a more peaceful card.
